What is the difference between a flash measuring device, an image measuring instrument and a CMM?
The three differ clearly in method and fit. A one-click flash measuring device captures in one shot and computes in parallel, giving the fastest takt (seconds to sub-second). It suits full inspection or high-frequency sampling of small-to-medium batches and is the easiest to operate. An image measuring instrument (2D vision) moves the stage and samples point by point, offering a larger measuring range for bigger parts but a slower takt, which suits sampling and first-article inspection. A CMM uses a contact probe, delivering the highest accuracy and access to 3D form and deep internal features, but it is the slowest and most environment-sensitive. A common production combination is flash measurement for full inspection plus a CMM for arbitration and first articles.
